Royal Caribbean's latest ship, Quantum of the Seas has now left the Meyer Weft shipyard.
Quantum of the Seas is now sailing the 32km journey from Papenburg, along the River Ems towards the North Sea. A journey which is scheduled to take 10 hours.
The conveyance of a new cruise ship is always an exciting, yet sad time for the Meyer Werft shipyard, due to the fact that it will never be physically possible for the ship to return. Mainly due to the shallow depth of the river and the extra weight added to the ship during the outfitting.
Royal Caribbean have created a great infographic explaining the challenges and obstacles thatface the conveyance of Quantum of the Seas.
