Royal Caribbean has announced that Legend of the Seas will be calling Australia its home for the 2015/16 winter season.
The ship will sail on cruises out of Brisbane, making the city the second Australian homeport for Royal Caribbean, after Sydney.
This latest announcement brings the number of Royal Caribbean vessels sailing from Australia in 2015 up to four. These include Voyager of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas, all sailing from Sydney.
At 70,000GT, Legend of the Seas is one of the largest ships able to navigate the Brisbane River.
"We are thrilled to announce our first program of cruises from Brisbane,"said Gavin Smith, Royal Caribbean's regional vice-president for Asia and the Pacific.
The move "represents another major investment by Royal Caribbean in the Australian cruise market."
Legend of the Seas will arrive in Brisbane in December 2015 for a five-month season, visiting ports of call such as Cairns and Airlie Beach.
